H&M is Eco-friendly and Socially Aware

Photo: H&M
Fast fashion retailer, H&M knows how to keep consumers coming back for more! After coming off a successful collaboration with fashion designer Isabel Marant, H&M is about to launch a new Eco-friendly denim line {end of February} that consist of jeans, jackets, vests in different washes. Get this; each item is made of 20% recycled cotton {which is the max, standard}.
I remember H&M launching a program that accepted used clothes from their customers, in return for a discount. Well, they collected 7.7 million pounds of used denim! H&M is on to something here...a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity. H&M is also paying of looking to pay factory workers a living wage.

Launched last year

This is a great example of fashion giving back!

Event: ARTSON365.com 2nd Annual Showcase & Conference Benefiting Cancer Support + Watch This!!

The Event Banner
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was another great event That Fashion Chick, LLC was a part of {sponsors}, selling our TFCB jewelry and promoting the company at the same time! It's still new for me getting out networking for TFC since I focused heavily on our online presence {which is fantastic} and to really promote {by myself with my personal brand}, is a little scary and EXCITING all at once.

Special thanks to Renata Brown {CEO of ARTSON365}! That Fashion Chick attended the ARTSON365.com 2nd Annual Showcase & Conference Benefiting Cancer Support {TFC attended the Saturday event}.  Each sponsor went on stage and promoted their company/brand and I was nervous, but it was real kool. S/O to the host for Saturday's event, Keegan Leiba {from Trinidad & in the Entertainment/Fashion Industries}...he shouted out my company a few times during the show, which was sooo AWESOME!

Keegan Leiba & I *no make up...I was a trooper! lol*

Few set up shots below:

I was really focused on promoting and selling so I  didn't capture all the moments I would have liked, like the performances and spoken word {all were amazing}, but I plan on going back next year bigger and better. It was another great day in business for TFC. This journey is really something, and the best is YET to come! =D

Watch This!!

Keep up with That Fashion Chick...I think it's time for some Studio L. Fashae'!

Alexander Wang Collaborates With Samsung + {Watch This!!!}

Alexander Wang is teaming up with Samsung to design a limited edition bag. With all that Wang has going on {designing his debut collection for Balenciaga, his first Paris show, and his normal collection}, how could one of this season's most talked-about designers find any time to do anything else? According to WWD, this project probably won't be adding too much to his workload, seeing that the bag will be essentially created by other people.

{The bag will be} inspired by sketches and photos by a group of influencers selected by the designer. The group of stylists, photographers and friends will use the Samsung Galaxy Note II to produce the images, which will serve as a base for Wang to create a print that will be used on the bag. Explains WWD
This bag sounds like it will be a very interesting piece. The bag will be sold at select Alexander Wang boutiques and the brand’s e-commerce site this summer. What's even better is that proceeds from the bag's sales will benefit ArtStart, a New York City charity that aims to nurture the creative talents of at-risk children and youths.

“I am most inspired from my everyday life and the people that surround me, so the idea of a co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting,” said Wang. “This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can come together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part of supporting such a great charity as ArtStart that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives.”

On an unrelated, funnier note, check out this spoof video set in Wang's store. It stars MADtv's Bon Qui Qui with cameos by Alessandra Ambrosio, Natasha Lyonne, A$AP Rocky and Simon Doonan.

Watch This!!!
Lol...we love it!!! It's nice that he shared a part of his sense of humor with us.

Bye!!!

Benetton’s Latest Campaign Stars Lea T, Alek Wek, Charlotte Free and More With Actual Clothing

United Colors of Benetton campaigns have always been thought provoking {from world leaders kissing, to Olympic rings condoms} over the last 20+ years. This year, however, the Benetton campaign is rather "normal."

For their Spring/Summer '13 campaign {shot by Giulio Rusitchelli} Benetton chose "Nine personalities, nine different shades, to paint our future." The ads really makes you think about color featuring "nine ambassadors for life and for style, distinguished by their multiculturalism, cosmopolitan spirit and social commitment, shared their interpretation of colour; a chromatic reflection of the talent and character which led them into the global limelight."

The nine ambassadors include big names like Alek Wek, Lea T, Charlotte Free, and Elettra Wiedemann, and others like gorgeous, mixed race British boxing-champion-turned-model Dudley O’Shaughnessy {you might recognize him from Rihanna’s “We Found Love” video}. All of whom filmed short interviews in addition to posing for the print ads.

The images from the campaign are uniquely captivating and will be printed on limited edition T-shirts that will be sold all over the world, online {shop.benetton.com} and in United Colors of Benetton stores; All proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts will be donated to the UNHATE Foundation. We just love when fashion is used to suport a good cause!!!

Check out a composite video of the interviews below

Interesting and inspiring!!! Go chcck out benetton.com for more in-depth interviews with each personality and more pictures.

Dior Rouge Nude Gives {Back} to Free The Children

The Rouge Nude Lipcolor in Grège: Dior
The House of Dior has always shown a strong commitment to charity and now the brands' latest philanthropic initiative supporting Natalie Portman’s {face of the Rouge Nude campaign} new partnership with Free The Children, is giving you the opportunity to give back as you shop.

The new Dior Rouge Nude Lipcolor collection offers eight shades from light beige to more intense browns that will leave the classic feminine Dior gloss that we love. An exclusive, special shade of Rouge Nude Lipcolor Grège, #169, was created specifically for the charity, with ALL proceeds of the lipstick going to support a study grant fund for the secondary education of girls in Kenya.

“I chose the color Grège because it’s the one I’d pick to wear myself,” Portman stated. “The number contains different dates that are important to me and my family.”

The Rouge Nude Lipcolor in Grège {$32} will be available in September for at Dior.com.

Can you walk in these?

Alright Beyonce, walk in these and put a show on in these!  Honestly, if any one could pull these off  in the proper manner, it would be Beyonce.

These 8-inch ballerina heels are ridiculously gorgeous.  The heels are design by the red bottom shoe maker, Christain Louboutin, for the English National BalletAgent Provocateur, Moschino, Erdem and seven other designers joined Louboutin in donating couture items to help raise money for dance company.

Good for them, hope they made big bucks.  The ballerina heels are a nice touch and creatively designed.

Naomi Campbell puts on a show

Naomi Campbell held another charity fashion show, Fashion for Relief, in Cannes.  The proceeds will go towards the aide to benefit the post-earthquake and tsunami victims, in Japan.  She recruited runway models and a few very brave celebrities like Rosario Dawson and Jane Fonda to strut their stuff on the runway.  Naomi also got some great designers to be a part of the show including: Prada, Valentino and Lanvin.

Here are some of my favorite looks:

Naomi Campell

Sigail Currie

Philip Huang

Lindsey Wixson

But wait...there's more!

Bless their hearts. Some models had a few slip-ups during the show. Watch below.

Hey it can happen to anyone...she got right back up!
