Lakia Fashae' featured in Young Men's Perspective Magazine {Men's Style} TBT

This was my TBT for yesterday {pardon me}, but I had some things to tend to which cut in my posting time. I was given an opportunity to post in Young Men’s Perspective Magazine, owned by Jeff Hodges who is also a published author {S/O to my mom for the connection!}.

Go to YMP’s site HERE and see what how it is a great contribution to young men everywhere. This article {from the July ’13 issue} gives some good FashAdvice to the fellas, on developing their personal style.

Check it out and keep up with YMP… {More to come too}!

Biggest Trends of 2013...Some will Stay & Some MUST Go!

Cut-outs: Omg! cut-outs were extremely popular, from your everyday wear to your evening wear and even down to your heels. This is a trend we've enjoyed...we will see more in this new year, 2014.

Leather: Let’s thank our rapper friends for this trend {did Kanye say he started this..never mind :D}! It was all leather everything in 2013…apparel, accessories, shoes…and for the entire family! …leather IS a classic.

Emerald Green: Pantone announced this color for 2013, which is a beautiful color. It was heavily embraced on red carpets and big events...Emerald  Green had a great run.  The color for 2014 is Radiant Orchid. =D

Short everything: 2013 was definitely the year to kinda let it all hang out {well…a little while now}; the shorter the the better {...and looking good at it}. Between cut-outs, short-shorts, mini skirts/dresses…let’s just say it was a revealing 2013 lol.

BeautySporting a cat eye and red lip { together or apart} are the two biggest beauty trends we saw in 2013…don’t think it will slow down in 2014 either {classic}!

Nail Art:nail art has had a fantastic run {extremely creative}, from your regular nail polish to 3D, blingy nails. Sadly, this trend will possibly have a slow death in 2014 {remember this Nail Art post}.

Show Stopping AppealEverything in 2013 was on 10: colors, prints, mix matching, ‘beat face’{makeup}, hair color, hair extensions..etc. Last year was about stand-out style..really letting your look speak for you. The awesome thing about it...people were experimenting with fashion more than ever!

Wedged Sneakers: I went hard for wedged sneakers {early}, its not ever funny BUT..I’m so OVER them! Wedged sneakers are a combo of my two favorite shoes {wedges +sneakers} I will stick to them both, sold separately in 2014.

Ad T-shirts: T-shirts were upgraded to the umpteeth power! Ad t-shirts {I like to call it} were huge in 2013. Everything was put on a t-shirt from funny sayings, statements, RIPs, and free loved ones..and can’t leave out all the graphics & customization. T-shirts did it all..and more kool stuff will come in 2014, I'm sure.

{That FashReport & Fashion Talk}

Happy Fashion Year 2014!:

I’m sure there are a few up there we can completely do away with for a while {it will recycle}.  In 2014, we will focus on metallicupgraded prints, more color, play on fabrics as well as fabric manipulation, and some really different silhouettes

Tomboy seems to be a lot of the style inspiration {runway shows}…it will upgrade. Also, you will see a more clean classic look…Classic-Chic {minimalism} is coming in 2014

Stay tuned for my trend alert post, which will give you the full scoop!

Lakia Fashae': must have Closet Staples for FALL!!

Every Fall there are a few items a That Fashion Chick shouldn't live without.  Key staples can stay on hand forever {for the most part}...two years is a good shelf life when rotating/upgrading items.

Here are my must-have closet staples for Fall!

Why, you ask?!:

Wedge Booties ~ goes with everything and somewhat unexpected
Red Lip ~ classic that will never fade...when in doubt, go red
Combat Boots ~ great style changer...works perfect for those comfy Fall looks
Leather Gloves ~ subtle statement saying 'it's cold, but I'm still chic!'
Classic Pea {or Trench} Coat ~ works with all looks from classy to grunge
Statement Sweater ~ adds personality to winter's #1 staple piece
Stylish Beanie ~ something quick to throw on...try animal print {instant attraction}
Grey Printed Tights ~ a nice alternative to black and brings out a different pop to your look
Tribal Print Cardigan ~ you should have a closet full of cardigans; excellent layer piece. Tribal print in different styles is the way to go this year
Knit Scarf ~ a knit scarf should always be handy
Black Full Skirt ~ this style is very trendy right now. Black skirt {like the LBD} goes with everything and the style combos are endless
Fall Nail Polish ~ no neon and no dullness..have at it!
Straight Leg Denim ~ my go to denim {LOVE my skinnies too}...dark wash for Fall/Winter. Great transition after the summer-skinnies

These are just a few staple pieces that are a must and will keep you trendy {for all ages and sizes} just match to your personal style. Swap out pieces amongst each other, and add to create a new look...layers are your friend. Just remember balance & proportion!

'The Nudes' Collection by Christian Louboutin {GREAT idea!}

Picture: Christian Louboutin
This news is all over the fashion blogosphere! Everyone is talking about the new collection {recently launched} by Christian Louboutin called The Nudes. You know about that trick to match your stockings to your shoes to give the illusion of looking taller {classic fashion trick}? Well, Louboutin has created The Nudes, which consists of heels blending with your skin tone from fair to dark {choose from five different shades}. Louboutin even has an app called Louboutin Shades that takes a picture of your foot and matches your skin tone to one of the listed shades.

“The shoes are there to give the woman an extra lift, not to take attention away from the legs and what she is wearing. They disappear like magic and become a fluid extension of her legs, as in a sketch, elongating the silhouette.”~Christian Louboutin

This collection is an excellent idea. Let's see how long it takes more affordable brands to catch on! Get more information via the Christian Louboutin site HERE!

Red Carpet: 2013 Emmy Awards {My FAVES!!}

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were held September 22, 2013. A lot of ladies came to the red carpet looking rather glamorous, which is the ideal look for the Academy Awards.

Within the past few years, 'glam' and 'chic' have formed a pretty solid bond {I'M A FAN OF CHIC APPEAL}. Chic adds that extra something to a look.

You know I love to pick my faves for the red carpets {some of these chicks are regulars}. I look for personal style, like does this look represent who's wearing it?. I also look for head-to-to cohesiveness and just that overall eye-catching appeal...#StyleConfidenceIT!
