💥Set Your LOOK! {Fall/Winter 2021}

Close out the season with a style BANG!💥

🏂🏾Wear That: Ski Effect

 🧤Theme it out!

⭐ Ski Effect is a huge theme on the runways this season. Self explanatory right?...pretty much dress for the slopes!

🎬Set the scene: your taking a lavish vacation in Aspen and you are the warmest in chic.

This look has many variables. You can dress it up/down with boots, fun fabrics, balaclavas, dolled up jackets and sweat sets. An all out winter look is key!

For extra chic appeal, play with neutrals and monochromatic colors {whites, creams, silvers and daunting prints}.

Scarves, head coverings and warm accessories are great accents.

🌨Bundle Up!

🧶Wear That: All Knit

 😀Here's a fun one!

This season, style~play your knitwear with a sexy~chic appeal!

 It's lightweight fabric, compared to the classic sweater, allowing form and fit to flow nicely.

Try fun shapes elaborated on different pieces {drapery is a go~to}. For that extra "somethin, somethin" have fun with patterns. This season knitwear also pops up on bags and boots!

😆Need I say more?!

 Ladies you looooove this fabric.
You know what to do!

Fashion News: Gisele Bundchen for Stuart Weitzman {Fall 2014 Campaign}

Supermodel {and I think it's safe to say: Icon} Gisele Bundchen is the new face for the classic shoe label, Stuart Weitzman. She's also the new face of Chanel No.5!

“Gisele [is] such a seasoned professional,” Weitzman told WWD. “She exemplifies the Stuart Weitzman woman with her zest of life, love and family.”

Get the Scoop!!: Who is bring who for for the Met Gala {designer & muse}

My favorite look from the 2012 Met Gala
Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe

OMG!! I told you about how excited I am to catch the live stream red-carpet of the Met Gala via the Moda Operandi and I mentioned I couldn’t wait to see who designers chose as their muse….well guess what, thanks to the awesome fashion site Fashionista, they have the scoop {with help from WWD and the Post}
Here is the info they have, and this is not confirmed {we’re still check it lol} :
•Michael Kors is taking Jennifer Lopez
• Valentino is taking Gwyneth Paltrow
• Dior is taking Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard
• Alexander Wang is taking Julianne Moore for Balenciaga
• Tommy Hilfiger is hosting at his table and dressing (with a little help from Trash & Vaudeville) a very motley crew including Debbie Harry, Nicki Minaj, Zooey Deschanel, Lily Aldridge, screenwriter Jamie Linden, music publicist Jason Weinberg, musician Marky Ramone with wife Marion, actress Thalia Mottola, music executive Tommy Mottola, and Kings of Leon lead vocalist Caleb Followill
• Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy are taking Elle and Dakota Fanning
• Joseph Altuzarra is taking Allison Williams
• Brian Atwood is taking Elizabeth Banks
• Christopher Kane is taking Stella Tennant
• Nina Ricci’s Peter Copping is taking Carolyn Murphy
• Diane Von Furstenberg is taking Emma Roberts
• Tory Burch is taking Jessica Alba
• Topshop is taking Jaime King and Julianne Hough
• Kenzo’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are taking Solange Knowles
• Anthony Vaccarello is taking Gisele Bundchen
• Riccardo Tisci is taking fellow co-chair Rooney Mara
• Burberry is taking (rumored new face) Sienna Miller
• Peter Pilotto is taking Brooklyn Decker
• Samsung is taking Psy
• Saint Laurent is taking Greta Gerwig (we hear)

• John Galliano is not attending, even though his designs are featured in the exhibit. “One step at a time,” Galliano’s publicist Liz Rosenberg told the New York Post, when asked about whether the designer would attend the gala, adding, “and that’s one huge mother f – - kin’ staircase.” (We bow down Liz!)
I am more excited! OH and it seems that some women attendees are having a tough time getting in punk mode…this quote is cute:

“We keep running into the same problem, which is that rich women don’t want to look punk, or grunge,” Decades’ Cameron Silver, who’s helping to dress people for the big day, told the New York Times‘ Eric Wilson. “Not that many women want to look like Nancy Spungen.”

 LOL. That’s all I got!

Designers headed to court again?! {Yummie Tummie & Spanx}

Here's some interesting news. Heather Thomas of Yummie Tummie {shape wear for children} and President of Times Three Clothier, LLC is accusing Spanx, INC. of copying several of her control-top camisole designs.

This story gets better and even more interesting at the end when Thomas describes her special combat look?! Get the scoop HERE.

At left: Yummie Tummie's Original tank top. At right: Spanx's Top This cami. Both: tank tops.

This is a big issue for designers. Seems like a lot of designers have been going to court for copyright infringement lately. Sara Blakley of Spanx {who was just featured on one of  Fortune's Billionaire List}  had this to say:

 "Spanx was making shaping camisoles long before Yummie Tummie. We have no further comment."

Welp, let’s see how this one turns out!

Net-A-Porter's New Mag

Net-A-Porter has launched a new weekly magazine titled "The Edit",  that caters to "women with great style and great stories" according to the magazine editor, Lucy Yeomans {formerly at British Harper's Bazaar}.  Net-A-Porter has had the online magazine of some form for awhile {under the moniker, "The Magazine"} but now it has a real, glossy-sounding name and is expected to release a print version of the magazine this fall.

The first edition of "The Edit" with Natalia Vodianova
 Net-A-Poter

Featuring original editorials, advertisements, and context in a variety of languages, "The Edit," is a bona fide magazine in every way; the the print edition will compete with Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, according to WWD. The difference between "The Edit" and traditional fashion magazines will be that they will use intel directly from Net-A-Poter costumers, knowing exactly what is being bought at full price, on sale, what is being requested when sold out, and what is being passed over. This is a very resourceful way to cater to their readers as well increasing profitability.

We think this is a innovative twist on fashion mags and wish Net-A-Porter much success.

Coach is broadening their horizions {clothing line}

We are big fans of re-branding.  It really can’t hurt a company…well unless the new direction is just all wrong. Hopefully Coach can hit this one out the park!

photo: Coach FB Page

  Coach, an affordable luxury {handbag and accessory} brand, is in the process of broadening  their horizons…with a clothing line and more lifestyle products. This is GREAT news for Coach Lovers!
   via Fashionista:
“The reality is that the marketplace has shifted,” chairman and chief executive officer Lew Frankfort told WWD. “We’re responding transformationally to take advantage of the opportunity. It’s not as if we’re static.”
Coach already has great price points, so let’s hope this all goes very well.  THEN Michael Kors {love him dearly} and Tory Burch are going to have new competition, being that they are the top lifestyle brands...according to WWD.
 “Instead of designing accessories to fill a need, we’re thinking more about the woman, who she is, where she goes, what is her life like and how does it feel, to move Coach from…where you think of a Coach bag, to now when you think of Coach, you will think of a woman or a man and you think of their lifestyle,” Reed Krakoff, the brand’s president and executive creative director, said. It’s not about the “it-bag” anymore.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 Runway Show Canceled

Due to the expectation of twins in February, Sarah Burton was forced to cancel the upcoming Alexander McQueen Fall 2013 runway show. Instead, Burton will show the Fall 2013 collection to a group of about 100 editors on March 5th, followed by appointments for buyers later that evening according to WWD.

Burton isn't the only designer to pull out of fashion week {Peter Som, Chris Benz, and Katie Holmes have also announced that they're skipping out this season} but maternity leave is a pretty solid reason. Though we are sad to hear about the show, twins are a big deal.

Congratulation Sarah, we wish you a smooth delivery.

Consumer Alert!!: Beware of misleading labels

photo: Heart and Pen
Here’s an interesting story for all you retail consumers out there. The Federal Trade Commission is not too happy with Macy’s, Amazon, Sears or Leon Max.  Basically, {according to WWD} the FTC gave out fines to all of the parties above in the ballpark of over $1 million combined for allegedly mislabeling “eco-friendly bamboo textiles” without mentioning that part about rayon being included.

“When attempting to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers, companies need to ensure they don’t cross the line into misleading labeling and advertising,” said Charles Harwood, acting director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “If a textile is made of rayon, sellers need to say that, even if bamboo was used somewhere along the line in the production process.”
They all have violated the Textile Products Identification Act AND on top of that they ignored all the warning letters.  So there you have it…fined! Let this be a lesson to other retailers and clothing brands, put the right ingredients on your labels please.=D

Emma Roberts Inspired Sunglasses by Nanette Lepore

Women's Wear Daily recently reported that Luxottica and the Council of Fashion Designers of America have tapped Nanette Lepore as the latest designer for the 2012 Vogue Eyewear Design Series.

Lepore tells WWD that she was inspired by young actress Emma Roberts while creating the cream-colored cat-eye sunglasses.

Designer Nanette Lepore
Muse Emma Roberts

"I looked to glamorous actresses from the '20s to the present while I was designing and fell in love with Emma,” Lepore says of the starlet. “She’s chic, youthful, and confident in her style. I really wanted to make every element of my sunglasses unique, from the metallic cyan packaging to the inlaid gold filigree on the frames."

Lepore's sketch of "Emma" frames

The limited-edition collection of frames will be available for $129.95 a pair at select Sunglass Hut locations {and online at sunglasshut.com} in October. Past Vogue Eyewear collaborations have been with Rebecca Minkoff, Monica Botkier, Yeohlee Teng, Devi Kroell, Kara Ross and Matt Murphy.

Marissa Webb is Launching Her Own Line

Photo: WWD
Her name might not ring a bell but, as J.Crew’s former head of women’s wear designer since 2000, some of us have already been wearing Marissa Webb's designs…for years! In 2011, Webb was replaced by Tom Mora when she resigned from J.Crew to “pursue other opportunities.” According to WWD, Webb is now set to debut her first {self-named} collection, launching spring 2013, during fashion week this fall.

The collection, described as tomboy-meets-girly-girl, will offer boyish blazers, tie-neck blouses, skinny cargo jeans, dresses and more. Sounds a lot like J.Crew…“A lot of people ask me, 'Will your collection look like J.Crew?'” Webb said. “The honest answer is, in my mind, no. But after being at J.Crew for 11 years, a lot of my own personal aesthetic is in J.Crew because that was my job. The same things that influenced me then influence me now.” she explains. Well that is understandable.

One thing that will set Webb’s line apart from J.Crew is her wholesale price range {$125 for a T-shirt, $325 for a blazer, $1,500 for limited-edition dresses}. Webb’s previous position has definitely giving her great advantages in launching her own line, particularly with finding investors. Dallas-based, Bedrock Manufacturing, Co. {also owns part of Steven Alan} has a minority stake in Webb’s business, with Steven Alan handling Webb’s sales.

I know there are plenty of J.Crew fans exicted to see this collection.

Another Nike Collaboration

Nike has teamed up with French label A.P.C for a line of pared-down unisex sneakers. The Nike Dunk and Nike Air Max were given a minimalist make-under creating the perfect mix of sporty function and chic style.

“It’s all very classic looking, trainers [shoes] that don’t shout too loudly,” Jean Touitou {head of A.P.C} told WWD. “It will give people the opportunity to wear a trainer with a very chic coat. The reason we are not doing the trainers ourselves is because we don’t have the know-how, Nike does…It’s like I’m not trying to bake bread for myself.”

The sneakers will be available August 30 at A.P.C. stores worldwide and will come in three colors {ecru, navy and brown} and will range from $110 to $150. This collaboration won't be the last for A.P.C and Nike, golfwear, skiwear and training apparel are also being talked about.

Amar’e Stoudemire Launching a Men’s Fashion Line

Photo: WWD

Knick's player Amar'e Stoudemire has been making a splash in the fashion industry {his new friendship with Anna Wintour, sitting front row durning fashion week, and colaborating on a collection with Reachel Roy} so it's no surprise that he would try his hand in designing.

At a Calvin Klein event in Milan, Stoudemire told WWD that he is working on a men’s fashion line. No further details were giving but it was implied that he is working with a partner, perhaps a more "experienced" designer. Let's hope that his recent Twitter faux pas doesn't get in the way of his fashion career.

Quoting Stoudemire "Stay tuned." That Fashion Chick will definetly keep you updated!
