Event: Atlanta International Fashion Week

That Fashion Chick was granted the opportunity to cover events during the 7th Annual Atlanta International Fashion Week as media. I was on assignment to cover the "Rip the Runway" Fashion Show on July 26, 2013, presented at 200 Peachtree. This was my first time in the venue and it is gorgeous...very old Hollywood Glam!! The fashion show began with kiddie collections followed by collections for young adults {18-30} that ranged from current trends to exotic edge. All of the designers did a great job on their pieces and the models were amazing.

Take a look at the fashionable collections below!!

Thanks to AIFW for the opportunity,  we are looking forward to next year's events!!

Kate Middleton Style: New Banana Republic x Issa London Collection

As the excitement of newborn Prince George winds down, the "Kate Effect" on fashion continues with Banana Republic and Issa London launching a new "royal" collection. The Issa x Banana Republic collection features Kate-esque looks, including a blue wrap-dress inspired by Duchess' engagement dress. The collection is a great blend of Banana Republic's versatile heritage and Issa London's bold yet sophisticated African safari prints, with every dress designed as if Kate would wear them herself.

We wanted to design a collection that was versatile but playful, with bold prints and feminine silhouettes." "We knew our customers would be thrilled to experience royal fashion at a Banana Republic price point."

Watch This!!: Chinti and Parker Meets Paternity

London-based clothing company Chinti and Parker {offers ethically produced playful, and often quirky, appeal} is teaming up with creative group Paternity {that specializes in patterns, hence the name} this season to create a high-impact twenty-eight-piece capsule of black, white, and mint knit maxi dresses and separates. The merino wool and cashmere collection was inspired by architecture and mixes polka dots big and small with diamonds, stripes, grids, and enlarged, blocked shapes. The designers released a hypnotizing short film that set their geometric pieces against the buildings that inspired them.

A limited selection of the Chinti and Parker Meets Paternity collection is available now on Chinti and Parker's website. The full line will hit stores such as Selfridges and Net-a-Porter next week. Prices range from $145-$800.

Janelle Monae's "New" Style...Watch This!!

That Fashion Chick Janelle Monae is known for her signature style, donning chic tuxedos and her beloved pompadour, but Monae switched it up just a little in her latest video "Dance Apocalyptic." While still sticking to her monochromatic style Monae rocks out in a white shirt, pants, furry vest, and long wavy hair {which caused a little controversy (get the scoop here)} accessorizing with a chunky necklace, belt and about a dozen rings.

Watch This!!

We love Janelle because {despite what some critics may say} she has a very distinct personal style that she stays true to it. Her style is her style, even with the hair change...plus it's just one video. Do your thing Janelle!!

Watch This!! Tailored Tatts {ft. Tilda Swinton}

Top-tier bespoke {made to order} tailor Timothy Everest and legendary Japanese tattoo artist Horiyoshi III have teamed up to create a capsule collection for Spring ’14. Although this seems like an  unusual collaboration, Everest spoke of tattoos as "the ultimate bespoke" at his London presentation on Monday. Tilda Swinton models one of the beautifully tattooed suits in a short film; The film depicts Swinton at her Scottish home performing what at first, looks to be tai chi, but, according to sources, she is actually exaggeratedly copying the movements a bespoke client will experience during a Timothy Everest fitting.

Stella McCartney denim expansion

British designer Stella McCartney is expanding her ready-to-wear denim line, starting with the Spring 2014 collection. McCartney is adding 10 new styles in 20 different washes, including colors and prints, in various cuts. Some pieces are made solely of organic cotton in Italy, which is high quality alternative for the designer who famously boycotts the use of leather in the production of her collections.

Washes including over dyed, faded and dégradé come in classic shades of indigo, white, grey and black. The spring palette consists of rose, lipstick and chamomile. Prints include black and white heart print and all black subtle leopard. As for the cut, expect to see skinny, boyfriend and flare style jeans, along with low, medium and high rises.

Pieces in the collection will range between $350 ~ $595 and will be available {this November} in all 25 Stella McCartney stores as well as in multi-brand retailers across the world.

Louis Vuitton Windows Are Dino-mite

If rumors about Marc Jacobs possibly not renewing his contract with Louis Vuitton in 2014 wasn't enough to create buzz for the company, the house's new window installations sure will. Taking a break from the typical brightly hued works of an eccentric or iconic artist, seven stores worldwide {including Paris’ Champs Élysées, London’s New Bond Street, and New York’s Fifth Avenue} are displaying dinosaurs!! That's right, the windows are hosting jewel like reproductions of prehistoric skeletons of Velociraptors, Dimetrodons, Stegosauruses, Tyrannosaurus Rexes, and Triceratopses {just to name a few} with mannequins wearing Vuitton’s Pre-Fall ’13 settled peacefully upon the creatures.

I love it!! According to Style.com, the displays were inspired by a trip to the Natural History Museum in Paris’ Les Jardins des Plantes.

Boss is based in Metzingen, Germany but will be opening a studio in New York where Wu has been based since 2006.

Hugo Boss will be skipping it's traditional Spring-Summer showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2014 in Berlin but will present an Autumn-Winter 2014/2015 line under Wu's direction next February in New York. Boss menswear, designed by Kevin Lobo, will present as well.

Band of Outsiders' New Face: Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean is dabbling into fashion. We saw him sitting front-row at the Valentino show during NYFW earlier this month and now staring in Band of Outsiders' new campaign. Ocean recently wore a custom Band of Outsiders suit to perform at the Grammys. We expect to see him rocking the brand at more events!

The campaign was shot in Los Angeles by Band of Outsiders Creative Director, Scott Sternberg, capturing the charming crooner in a state of meditation for the brand’s signature Polaroid look book. There is even a shot of Ocean smiling {nice!} which is a rare sight.

Check him out!!

Very Frank

Love that smile
