We have the scoop on the top luxury brands as well as top apparel brands!
It’s pretty kool to see how the ranking falls…you know the fashion industry is a multi *cough* billion dollar industry!

WPP and Millward Brown has released 2013’s BrandZ Top 100 list, which names the most valuable brands worldwide. Louis Vuitton {we should of known} hit the top spot for the second year in a row with company value at $22.7 billion and Hermes is #2 with a company value of $19.1 billion.
  1. Louis Vuitton
  2. Hermes
  3. Gucci
  4. Prada
  5. Rolex
  6. Chanel
  7. Cartier
  8. Burberry
  9. Fendi
  10. Coach

That pretty much sets the tone for the luxury brands. Apparel brands are not far behind. Surprisingly, Zara {fast fashion chain} hit the list with $20 billion in value, surpassing Nike as the most valuable apparel brand in the world.
  1. Zara
  2. Nike
  3. H&M
  4. Ralph Lauren
  5. Adidas
  6. Uniqulo
  7. Next
  8. Lululemon

Time to learn Mandarin! {Rosetta Stone}

This is something we all should take kind of serious.  I’ve been hearing a lot about this Mandarin language becoming more popular.
My mom told me this a few years back and I’ve heard it on a few TV shows, now fashion sites are weighing in on it.  Time to pay attention and for good reason…looks like I may be hitting up my nearest Borders for Rosetta Stone.  Fashion Folks it’s time to learn Mandarin!

I read a great article on Fashionista.  I’m going to summarize a few points for you:

  • Dec. '12 - Chinese shoppers officially surpassed American shoppers as the #1 consumer of luxury goods.
  • Recently in Europe, Burberry doubled the number of Mandarin speaking sales associates  and they have already seen a 15% increase in revenue and in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Over the next 3 to 4 years Chinese tourist's numbers are expected to reach 90 million. Retailers are planning to strategiclly use Mandarin speaking associates, catering to these tourist…according to Patrica Pao, CEO of PAO Principle.

This is an article you must read….it’s the future, check it out HERE!

KCD's Digital Fashion Shows Goes Public with Peter Som + Others

Peter Som
Earlier this month, Peter Som cancelled his Fall '13 runway show at New York Fashion Week {we mentioned this a couple of weeks ago}...or so we thought! Turns out, Som will be going digital instead, presenting his Fall ’13 collection online on KCD’s Digital Fashion Shows. Pierre Balmain and Alexander Plokhov will also have digital shows on the KCD outlet.
When Digital Fashion Shows {digital alternative to attending live shows} launched last year, it was exclusively for buyers and press. This year, they have announced that they will open its portal to the public, allowing them to log on and watch the Fall ‘13 collections on the virtual runways.
“The log-in response from non-invitees was tremendous and as it continued to grow with each digital show it became necessary to respond to our client’s request to open the platform’s doors wider for greater exposure,” said KCD's Digital Managing Director, Rachna Shah. ”But the site retains all of the innovative tools the press needs to review and cover the shows as featured when the platform was founded.”
With an increasing number of designers {like Burberry & Prada}, livestreaming runway shows to the public, it only makes sense for an already-online show to do the same. Although a runway show only lasts about thirty minutes, images and video captured from the show will live forever in cyberspace; Plus, they can reach customers all over the world, giving brands more advertising bang for their buck!
DFS only has three scheduled shows during NYFW, so far, but plans to announce more for the European shows. Peep the schedule below and tune in to DFS and check out the shows. We'll definitely be watching!!! :)

Alexander Plokhov: Saturday, February 9th beginning at 10am EST
Peter Som: Wednesday, February 13th beginning at 9am EST
Pierre Balmain: Friday, February 8th beginning at 9am EST

Is an Adele & Burberry collabo in the works?

Adele in Burberry at the 2012 Grammy's
via HuffingtonPost
Although, Adele {very pregnant} may have not attended Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 show Tuesday, speculations about her ties to the British brand have not stopped. According to Vogue U.K. "Rumor Has It" that the curvaceous singer will collaborate with chief creative officer Christopher Bailey on a Burberry plus-size fashion range.

Both Burberry and Adele's representatives have declined to comment on the rumors; However, the collaboration wouldn't be unheard of given the Grammy winner's long-standing relationship with the label. Bailey was among the first to play Adele songs during his runway shows, and dressed the Essex-bred crooner for her Vogue U.K. cover last fall, her appearances at the 2012 Grammy Awards and BRITS.

"I've met Christopher Bailey a few times," Adele has previously stated. "I've always loved Burberry. I remember saving for three years to get my first bag before I got signed."

Aw!!! Well, we certainly hope the rumors are true!!! :)
