Band of Outsiders' New Face: Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean is dabbling into fashion. We saw him sitting front-row at the Valentino show during NYFW earlier this month and now staring in Band of Outsiders' new campaign. Ocean recently wore a custom Band of Outsiders suit to perform at the Grammys. We expect to see him rocking the brand at more events!

The campaign was shot in Los Angeles by Band of Outsiders Creative Director, Scott Sternberg, capturing the charming crooner in a state of meditation for the brand’s signature Polaroid look book. There is even a shot of Ocean smiling {nice!} which is a rare sight.

Sneak Peek: ‘Valentino: Master of Couture’ Exhibit

Over the next few months, the Somerset House in London will be hosting a new exhibition dedicated to iconic {and one of our favorites} Valentino entitled “Valentino: Master of Couture.” The exhibition will span over 50 years of the designer’s career and feature over 130 designs worn by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Grace Kelly {including never-before-seen photos, images, and invitations}.

“Valentino: Master of Couture” will run at Somerset House November 29th through March 3rd. Valentino SpA has designed exclusive accessories for the museum, providing plenty of amazing options for souvenirs. If you need more stunning images {or can't be in London}, a coinciding book entitled Valentino: Master of Couture, A Private View will be released November 29th as well.

Valentino confirms takeover talks

Valentino is being sold!!! The Italian fashion house could sell for as much as $930 million to an unknown buyer.

After losing money in 2009 under the Permira private equity firm, the house returned to profit in 2011. Co-creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli always kept a noticeable touch of Valentino in their modern designs, slowly and steadily gaining critical acclaim for their lovely collections. The brand’s revenues increased by 18% in 2011 under Chiuri and Piccioli.

"Valentino has seen increasing interest from a number of potential buyers," said Stefano Sassi, chief executive of Valentino Fashion Group and the Valentino fashion house, in a statement obtained by AFP on Monday. “The outstanding work and stylistic vision of creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli and the constant growth of [the] company’s results have generated great attention towards the brand.”

Sassi also added: "An exclusivity has been granted to one of the potential buyers, who expressed interest in the long term potential of the brand, and it is expected to expire in July."

Qatar's royal family is believed to be the mystery buyer; However, Puig was also interested in purchasing Valentino at one point. The price tag for the label is reported to be $850-930 million {£550-600 million (pounds), €700-755 million (euros)}.
