The past few years I've been kicking up dust in the fashion industry. 

On accident, then on purpose. IT!'s worked too!💃🏾

💡Mostly about diversity, because I didn't fit in....

Anywho, got blackballed and all that.

    Good thing, That Fashion Chick has been exclusive from the beginning. Promoting JUST started. It's freeing to be in one's own space/lane. Sorry not Sorry, I can't "do" where God ain't.

    TFC is a fashion and art experience. Hell, in the world. People really need to find self-confidence in life. One's soul always has a choice.🙏🙏🏾

     Still in GA, I relocated after Covid {reset}. With that being said, a small town has but so much to offer. Atlanta had more opportunities. 

Fast-forward...

    Shop TFC eCommerce was launched last year on my birthday {August 28}. This blog was monetized. I removed the ads due to lack of substance {conflicting with my art}. My focus was blogging and doing business offline. 

    I LOVE creativity. Sales is my background; humbly I can sale a cow milk. Is that fair to the client/customer tho? No. Keeping options open is my marketing secret. People usually love what they don't understand at first...some finesse comes into play. Creativity is being held hostage fr fr.

    In conclusion, it's dope and a blessing to see the world outside the "norm". The struggle stories behind the greats are true. Trust the process.  I'm proud to say I have grown into my own identity. I was super shy...😌. Not really shy, but misunderstood in society {different than what's assumed of me}, in turn"shyness" was my fallback.

⭐Style Icon: Helen Williams

Helen Williams was born in East Riverton, New Jersey in 1937. She is best known for being the first black mainstream (commercial) fashion model. Helen made her mark in America and Paris in the 1950’s and 60’s. 

There were others that came before her, but there was a little more to this lady. At the age of 17, she caught the attention of Lena Horne and Sammy Davis Jr, who encourage her modeling career.  Following the encouragement, Helen worked with Ophelia DeVore.  This was an awesome match because Ophelia had opened, Grace Demarco Modeling Agency, {first black modeling agency}. After etiquette learning and preparing for the world stage, Helen Williams took the world by storm. She broke racial barriers for dark skin woman {whom were considered ugly in America}.

  Helen represented change, with grace and authority. Her beauty was spread across the world through ads and brands including Jet magazine, Ebony magazine, Sears, Christian Dior and Jean Desses. Helen William was the ‘it’ girl of her time.

Fashion Life: Long-term Careers in Fashion

We are familiar with the phrase "struggling artist," attributed to an artist on their grind. Art is a universal language that is also subjective. That artist has to make their audience see their vision without compromise. Though, these days the gray area of artistry has been compromised a lot: money is the motive.

Personally, I think a great idea is just as wealthy as the money it can and will make. Also, only like 10% of business is product development.

Learning business and creating a system is vital, for its longevity. These are things I’m always sharing with young, inspiring designers. Once you get the hang of it, the best is yet to come! ;D
