Event: White House United State of Women Summit {History}

Monday night I took a 10 hour road trip from Atlanta, GA to Washington, D.C. to cover the first ever, White House United State of Women Summit at the Walter E. Convention Center.

Let me tell ya, I re-read that confirmation letter over and over, with shock and gratitude.

Once we arrived Tuesday morning {June 14} I checked-in and received my credentials...then it all became really-real...an amazing and empowering experience is ahead of me.

The moment of the evening was to see our First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama, of course it was truly great to see Ms. Ophra, Mr. Buffett, Mrs. Pelosi and our President Mr. Barack Obama.

O-M-G! Check out those names!!
There were a lot more too.

I can't wait to share with you, my highlights of this historical event.

While I handled business at the Women’s Summit, my mother, Karen Dargan Middleton, Chief of Resident Initiatives with Macon-Bibb County Housing Authority (MBCHA) in Macon, Georgia was handling her business just blocks away visiting with Jena Roscoe, 1st Senior Vice President with Operation HOPE.  May 10, leaders and stakeholders of Macon, Georgia celebrated the opening of an Operation HOPE  service site located at one of MBCHA’s one-stop resource centers that Middleton oversees - Buck Melton Community Center.
