The Lights Are On, and I’m Still Listening

Fashion Week is happening now.

The runway is alive. The lights are sharp. The silhouettes are speaking before anyone says a word.

And I love it!

I love the anticipation before the first look walks out.
I love the craftsmanship that moves like choreography.
I love the way fabric can shift a room’s energy in seconds.
I love watching designers translate ideas into structure, movement, and mood.

The runway has always felt like a language to me. A declaration. A study in power.

And while the shows are unfolding, I’m in the studio working on Episode 1 of Fashion Talk with That Fashion Chick.

Different stage. Same love.

Because before I ever had a mic, I had margins filled with sketches.
Before I had a platform, I had curiosity.
Before I talked chic, I watched the runway like it was scripture.

So yes, I’m busy building this podcast.
Yes, I’m shaping something intimate and intentional.
But don’t get it twisted… I’m still tuned in.

And while the industry presents what’s next,

I’m reflecting on what shaped me — and how it all connects.

Episode 1 is on the way.
What didn’t fit was the beginning.

The runway inspired the dream.
The podcast continues the dialogue. ๐Ÿ’ซ

 When it comes to man fashion, TFC is traditional. To each
his own, however I love masculine style.

That being said, here's my take:

Fashion Inspiration: Stroke of Genius {Vogue Paris}

I came across some really inspiring art by some of the greatest to ever do it. Maaaan my sketches are kool, but these sketches HERE have me drooling {okay-not literally} but yeah ,just amazing!

When I need some fashion inspiration, I go back to the basics, the art of fashion. Sketches are the beginning of the magic, and when it all comes alive a love affair is formed between body and garment {yesss its that serious lol}. I love my industry even more after checking out these sketches on Vogue Paris. Look at what I mean and be inspired! =D

Christian Lacroix pays homage to Elsa Schiaparelli {Fashion Icon}

The artist and contemporary designer Christian Lacroix {who closed his fashion house a few years back, but has move to costume designing for the theatre} payed homage to the late great Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli in Paris at the Les Arts Decoratifs during Paris Couture Fashion Week. This special tribute was by invitation of La Maison Schiaparelli.

  Lacroix designed an 18 piece collection, inspired by Schiaparelli who was a very influential fashion designer during the beginning of the 20th Century. She is best known for her play on colors, elaborate draping and lobster embellishments to name a few...her rival was Coco Chanel. Schiaparelli was a true designer who took major chances back in her day and did not limit herself to traditional styles.

The pieces in this exhibit wont be for sale. The exhibit was intended to pay homage and bring attention to the fact that the House of Schiaparelli may be reopening {RTW & haute couture collections}. Well done Christian Lacroix.

This is so amazing...these pieces are Art!

Louis Vuitton Windows Are Dino-mite

If rumors about Marc Jacobs possibly not renewing his contract with Louis Vuitton in 2014 wasn't enough to create buzz for the company, the house's new window installations sure will. Taking a break from the typical brightly hued works of an eccentric or iconic artist, seven stores worldwide {including Paris’ Champs ร‰lysรฉes, London’s New Bond Street, and New York’s Fifth Avenue} are displaying dinosaurs!! That's right, the windows are hosting jewel like reproductions of prehistoric skeletons of Velociraptors, Dimetrodons, Stegosauruses, Tyrannosaurus Rexes, and Triceratopses {just to name a few} with mannequins wearing Vuitton’s Pre-Fall ’13 settled peacefully upon the creatures.

I love it!! According to Style.com, the displays were inspired by a trip to the Natural History Museum in Paris’ Les Jardins des Plantes.
